How to invent a greener mobility on a daily basis, move towards moderate use of the car in resorts and develop the territory by providing new services ?
It is in response to such challenges that the Valley lift project was imagined by the municipality of Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc. A gondola lift running all year round. The link is designed to reach Saint-Gervais center from the Fayet train station and thus relieve congestion on the only road linking to the resort. With this unusual mode of transport, eco-mobility takes on its full meaning in our territory.
The departure of the cable car will take place at the train and bus station of Le Fayet, a major hub where both summer and winter TGV, TER (from Paris, Lyon, Annecy...), and Facilibus bus lines (100% ecological shuttles/skibuses free of charge from Saint-Gervais) stop. An adjacent parking lot (stadium parking) with 200 spaces also offers long-term parking possibilities. The first section will arrive at the center of the village of Saint Gervais (850m). The project also includes the replacement of the second section (from Saint-Gervais to Le Bettex) which marked the birth of the ski area in 1936. This second part of the project will directly link the two cable cars within a single intermediate station, thus increasing the current capacity of the St Gervais/Le Bettex cable car while improving traffic flow.
A limited environmental and landscape impact. The lift should reduce CO2 emissions in the area by 12 to 15%.
Improved quality of life for locals who gain mobility in their daily lives as well as in their local tourist outings. High school students, employees, seniors... this public transport is for everyone.
An amplified attractiveness of the territory. The heart of the resort is better protected from the nuisances linked to the presence of vehicles and tourist activities are more accessible throughout the year.
